It’s a story every artist has that through his journey in music -deep inside- there is a parallel narration of self-challenge, change and inner growth. For Robert Babicz music is the path to self-healing. Every moment -since the early stage of his career- had been the generator factor to open a chapter in music towards healing, redemption with encapsulating his notions into a message and all will reflect to people somehow.

But it’s inevitable not to get affected by his music since it is so personal, knowing that every track comes from his inner thoughts, desires, fears and of course -as like anyone of us- from dreams. Music made him who he is, music made him a producer, a mastering engineer and a live performer, plus when invited he is giving workshops and lectures to the younger generation about the means of sound and production.

He freely and generously gives all his knowledge to anyone interested, he is open about everything he knows, or he has discovered through his constant working. We thank him to have found the time -in his very hectic studio/live schedule- for an exclusive interview and a guest set.

1. What plays in your car? _No music at all, I even never turn on the radio. I enjoy not to listen to music. Same for walks in the nature. I have so much music going in my life, then a few spots without music are really needed.

2. How did it all start for you? _I started doing music during my schooltime, first experiments on a commodore amiga computer but I never ever thought that I would be a artist. I just loved playing around with sounds, it was so much fun. Then around 1991 I got my hands on a real tb303 and tr909, recorded a few tracks on a cassette. I have sent this cassette to a record label and got signed, very crazy. I barely have finished high school, mostly because of my parents, the only thing I could think of was making music. All the people around me told me I will fail, and this nonmusical noise called techno is just horrible. What can I say, I am still doing music <3

3. What is one subgenre you think doesn't get the attention it deserves? _I really like some of the glitch/bass music that is going on. There are some very talented new guys/girls doing fantastic crazy beats.

4. What is one track that never gets old for you no matter how many times you hear it? _My “remote kiss” track, made in 2009, I am still playing this on a regular basis together with other “old” tracks of mine, like dark flower or Sin. But as a general rule, when I do music, I don’t care what is the sound of the moment, I just create music that is touching my heart.

5. As both a DJ/Producer, which side are you on: entertainment or educational?  _Spiritual! I am very very sure that good music is healing your soul.

6. Do you walk around humming melodies? _No, not really. But in my head all the sounds that are around me are somehow music. From the humming of a bee to the sound of sand when I am walking, or the wind in the trees.

7. Your message to Report2Dancefloor Radio (including ahead plans) _I am about to finish my next album, were I am also working with some co-ops, I have tracks with gui boratto, john digweed, marc romboy..... btw all tracks on the MIX are my own. ...and whatever you dream in your life, never give your dreams up, they are the fuel of your heart.

Robert Babicz started off in 1992 with the project Colone releasing two albums that year a 5-track Acid Science Trax Vol. 1 and the 10-track Acid Science Trax Vol. 2 on Labworks Germany

The year 1993 Robert Babicz released under 3 different projects: Rob Acid, Church Window & Ra-Patera released on Injection Records, Labworks Germany & Nitro Records Cologne respectively.
